The bestiary in The Blood of Dawnwalker
The bestiary in The Blood of Dawnwalker holds 24 entries, 20 of them supernatural and 4 ordinary animals. Each entry is the in-game lore page Coen unlocks as he encounters a creature, and it carries the description, characteristics and illustration exactly as the game presents them.
Entries cover the full range of what lives in Vale Sangora, from wolves, bears, boars and dogs through to the Vidmo, Psoglav, Likho, Murohn, Tatzelwurm, Sanzhani and Vrakhir, along with the undead, the Wrongs, gargoyles, wisps and the terracotta and Anachora warriors.
Bestiary entries versus enemy stat pages
A bestiary entry is lore, not a stat block. One entry frequently covers several enemy variants, because the game separates the creature Coen reads about from the individual encounters he fights. Each bestiary page in The Blood of Dawnwalker therefore links to every enemy variant it describes.
If what you need is health, damage, drops or blood drinking data, follow those links to the enemies pages, where the numbers are calculated at whatever level you choose. The bestiary answers what a creature is; the enemy pages answer how hard it hits.
What the bestiary tells you before a fight
Bestiary characteristics describe how a creature behaves, which is genuinely useful preparation in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Knowing that something parries, dodges or prefers to keep its distance changes the approach more than knowing its exact health total does.
Blood drinkability is the other thing worth checking. Only some creatures can be drunk from, and in the vampire form blood is the only way Coen restores health, so a night spent among creatures that cannot be fed on is a night without healing.
Unlocking entries in Vale Sangora
Bestiary entries unlock through play rather than being available from the start, which makes this list a reference for creatures not yet met as well as a record of those already fought. The monster lairs marked on the Vale Sangora map are the most reliable places to find the supernatural entries.
The four animal entries are the exception, and they are easy to overlook. Animals are the safest blood source in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and feeding on one grants activation charges at the start of the next fight rather than the damage bonuses a human grants.
