Crafting ingredients in The Blood of Dawnwalker
There are 45 crafting ingredients in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and they are the raw input for every craftable consumable in the game. Herbs, minerals, animal parts and alchemical bases all sit in the same inventory tab and are worth almost nothing to merchants, so there is little reason to sell them.
Ingredients come from 17 harvestable plants and objects scattered through Vale Sangora, from enemy drops, and from merchant stock. Each ingredient page lists every source the game files give it, so a missing reagent can be traced back to a specific plant or a specific creature rather than hunted for blindly.
Which recipes use which ingredient
Every ingredient page in The Blood of Dawnwalker lists the recipes that consume it, and every recipe lists its full ingredient list in return. That two-way link is the fastest way to answer the only question that matters while crafting: whether the thing in Coen inventory is one reagent short.
Because there are only 44 recipes and 45 ingredients, most reagents appear in more than one recipe. Spending a rare ingredient on a low value draught can quietly block a better one, so checking the recipe list on an ingredient page before crafting is worth the ten seconds.
Harvesting on the Vale Sangora map
Harvestable nodes respawn, which makes gathering routes worthwhile. The 17 harvestables each yield a defined set of ingredients, and knowing which plant produces which reagent turns a walk between two shrines into a supply run.
Harvesting also costs nothing but time, and time in The Blood of Dawnwalker is a real resource. Activities push the time bar forward, and enough of them turn day into night, so a gathering detour before dusk can change which form Coen is in when he arrives.
Why crafted consumables are worth the ingredients
Ordinary food and drink lose effectiveness in combat. Consumables crafted from a recipe do not, and that single rule is what makes ingredient gathering in The Blood of Dawnwalker worth the inventory weight.
New recipes are found in the world rather than bought from a skill tree, so crafting capacity grows through exploration. Keeping a reserve of common ingredients means a newly found recipe can be used immediately instead of triggering another gathering trip.
